Turmeric, “The Golden Light”
Sanskrit Name: Haldi • English Name: Turmeric • Latin Names: Curcuma longa
Turmeric root is prevalent in Indian cuisine, and is readily available in any health food store or Indian grocery. The fresh root is sometimes available at Whole Foods, but is always available at the Indian grocery store.
| The Kailas Perspective: | After years of using Turmeric in my cooking, I came across the fresh root some time back. Immeidately I started adding it to fresh raw jucies, chopping it finely and stirr frying it in veggies and rice. Finally I just started chewing on this magic tuber... it's incredibly cleansing and stimulates the healing energy in our bodies to restore balance and rebuild tissue. So whenever you go shopping for the fresh root, make sure to grab a few peices to chew on! It's like a carrot, but softer and so good. |
